Bingo played to help disaster fund

People affected by recent floods in Canada are set to benefit from a charitable donation.

The Bonfield Agricultural Society has held bingo nights throughout the year, with some of the proceeds being given to good causes.

A portion of the money raised at its most recent event is being donated to the Bonfield-East Ferris Disaster Relief Committee, reports BayToday.

This will be used to help reconstruct those parts of the region which were damaged by flooding.

More than 60 people attended this week's fundraiser, with a jackpot of $780 being raised.

According to the agricultural society, this led to great excitement among the players of the numbers game.

A total of $400 was donated to the Disaster Relief Committee.

Meanwhile, the Falmouth Penryn Packet reported that organisations in south-west England such as St John's Ambulance and a primary school will benefit from money raised at a recent bingo night.
